Zehra Nawab is a journalist and filmmaker. Her writing on culture, art, and film earned her the National AGAHI Award for Journalism. She is a GEMS Directors Lab fellow and a Creators of Colour alum, where she pitched her work at the Toronto International Film Festival's Big Pitch (2024). Her documentaries include The Dance of Resistance (2027), supported by grants from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's SOC Films, Mad Mad Mad Filmy World (2021), part of the Contemporary Art Gallery Vancouver's permanent collection, and Farzana(2022), funded by the Canada Council for the Arts. Zehra was nominated for the Waterloo Arts Awards (2024) and received the SACFF EXNW Fellowship (2026). She is delighted to write for REELway, where her passions for journalism and film intersect beautifully.
